Dear Professional Colleagues and Friends,
We hope you and your families are well and safe, and that your 2021 is off to a great start. Reflecting on 2020 and the challenges that came with it, we feel a renewed sense of hope that the tide is finally turning, and we are finally seeing that light at the end of the proverbial tunnel that seemed to elude us through the last year. During this time, we have been first-hand witnesses to the resilience of our partner-clients. To say we are impressed and proud of the manner in which they have juggled both professional and personal challenges would be an understatement.
An Association's Journey to a New Brand
In 2019, the California Professional Association of Specialty Contractors (CALPASC) turned 20 years old and the association planned a celebration to commemorate the occasion. In the hours prior to that celebration, which was an elegant, well-attended anniversary ball held in Temecula, the Board of Directors spent the better part of the day in another meeting room upstairs contemplating what the next 20 years of the organization may look like. By the end of that meeting, a rebrand had emerged as part of a long-term strategy of increased efficacy in the regulatory and legislative arenas, as well as part of a new membership development effort. The association Board eventually voted to change the name of CALPASC to the “Housing Contractors of California (HCC)”—a name that immediately conveyed who the members of the association were and what they did. While the process of arriving at a name, logo, and tagline that the Board could get behind and be excited about was no small task, the subsequent rollout was also an orchestrated and involved process.
