The Core Compass News: Winter 2021

Dear Professional Colleagues and Friends,

Dear Friends and Professional Colleagues,

I hope this finds you happy and healthy as we approach 2022. I am extremely proud of the work our partner-client Boards have done throughout another challenging year, as well as that of our team, who continue to deliver excellent client service and work tirelessly day in and day out to help our partner clients achieve their missions.

This year has yet again required associations to navigate through the ongoing pandemic and changing restrictions. Adaptability and scrappiness have been a vital ingredient in that effort. With these challenges have also come success, especially in the area of conferences, where we have employed innovation bringing in-person and virtual events to life in the midst of a storm of uncertainty.

TCMC is also celebrating the opening of our new headquarters office in Sacramento as well as the addition of various new members to our team. I imagine you all can relate with the 2021 challenges of acquiring new talent during these times and we have been no exception. However, despite this challenge we have never compromised on the qualities we look for in our staff members, which include empathy, passion, authenticity, and diverse perspectives. We have certainly been blessed in that regard this year.

I want to thank all of you for your continued support. Our team is prepared to endure whatever challenges lie before us and we look forward to harnessing our spirit of passion and innovation to bring new methods of success to our partner clients.

The entire team at The Core Management Company would like to wish you a happy and bright holiday season full of warmth and good health.

Sincerely,

David A. Murillo, CAE
President + Chief Mission Officer

New TCMC Hires

Our team has experienced tremendous growth this year and we are excited to welcome some of the top association management professionals to our team. Please join us in welcoming all of our 2021 hires to The Core Management Company.

We Moved!

In November, The Core Management Company team said goodbye to our Victorian office, a space that many of you have visited over the years and a location we will miss dearly. We have moved into a space that better meets the needs of our growing company. The larger new office space that we share with our sister company, FSB Public Affairs and other staff members of the Core Strategic Group, is located in the picturesque Campus Commons area near Cal State Sacramento—just a few miles away from Downtown Sacramento. Please note that our new address is 100 Howe Ave. #186 N, Sacramento, CA 95825.

Events Update

While many organizations continue to utilize online event platforms, most can agree there’s nothing quite like in-person when it comes to learning and making connections. This fall, many of TCMC’s partner-clients resumed in-person gatherings for those who felt comfortable doing so, while simultaneously providing online options for those who’d rather learn from a distance. Pictured here: the Automotive Oil Change Association and Western Carwash Association teamed up with the International Carwash Association for The Car Wash Show 2021. The California Association of Code Enforcement Officer brought their Annual Seminar to Squaw Creek.

Strategic Planning

As 2021 comes to a close, many associations are taking time to reflect on the past year and looking towards the opportunities that lie ahead. Strategic planning sessions provide the perfect forum for an association to take stock of its current position, decide where it wants to be, and determine what it will take to get there.

The Sacramento Area Human Resource Association (SAHRA) Board of Directors gathered at the Fort Sutter Hotel on December 4th for their annual planning session. This passionate group of volunteer leaders spent the day focused on how to further advance its mission to inspire, engage, and develop Sacramento area HR professionals. TCMC is proud to call SAHRA a partner and client!
